Description and Objectives of the Program

Organic agriculture is a form of agricultural production that does not use chemical inputs and is controlled and certified at every stage from production to consumption. Its primary objective is to protect the environment, plant, animal, and human health without polluting soil and water resources or the air.

History and Current Status of the Program
The Organic Agriculture Program at Akdeniz University Manavgat Vocational School was established in 2017. It began accepting students from the 2019-2020 academic year onward. Graduates receive an Associate Degree. Evening education is not available.

Education Period and Diploma Type of the Program
The education period of the program is 2 years. Graduates are entitled to receive an Associate Degree.

Admission, Registration, and Graduation Requirements of the Program
Our program admits students based on the TYT score type obtained from the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by ÖSYM. Students holding a high school diploma or its equivalent who fulfill the provisions specified in the relevant legislation of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the relevant regulations of Akdeniz University are admitted to our program. To graduate from the program, students must fulfill the success conditions specified in the Akdeniz University Education-Training and Examination Regulations.

Degree Awarded to Graduates
This program was established within our Vocational School to train "Organic Agriculture Technicians."

Career Opportunities for Graduates
Organic agriculture graduates can work in Provincial and District Directorates of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Agricultural Research Institutes, Universities, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, Greenhouse Enterprises, Agricultural Sales Cooperatives, Agricultural Development Cooperatives, Nursery Cultivation Enterprises, and Municipalities. At the same time, with the certificates and documents obtained after graduation, they hold the authority to practice "agricultural consultancy" or open an "agricultural dealership." 

 

Undergraduate Programs for Vertical Transfer (DGS)

Candidates who successfully complete their associate degree education can continue their studies in bachelor's degree programs by transferring to the relevant departments of Faculties of Agriculture via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), within the framework of available quotas.

GREENHOUSE APPLICATIONS

Soil tillage, sowing, and planting activities have commenced in our practice greenhouse.

WEED CONTROL

Weed control in the practice greenhouse of Manavgat Vocational School Organic Agriculture Program is carried out in a reciprocal relationship with sheep. While grazing and feeding, the sheep eliminate unwanted weeds and enrich the practice area soil through natural fertilization.
